Morphicon 2008

Morphicon is a furry convention held in central Ohio.  This was our fifth year, and this was the first year I didn't staff the convention.  I assisted with information, helped out publications a little, fixed the database, and wrote most of the scripts for the Spectacle of Doom...but overall I didn't do much work compared to previous years, and I actually got to relax at the con itself.

The theme was "Hooray for Furrywood" (which I proposed back when I was still on the Morphicon board of directors, partly as a joke, and to my surprise the other board members accepted it).  Kattywampus (who was regrettably unable to attend) did the most fantastic art for this year's con--twelve movie posters.  One for each of the eleven Hypertrophes (including yours truly), and one for Espent to ask Qeni to marry him (she said yes).

There are three sizes of image: thumbnail, small, and full-size.  Click on the thumbnail to see the small image.  Click on the small image (a second click) to see the full-size image.

For the record, here's what my poster looked like:

Thanks much Katty!  We all missed being able to see you at the con this year.

I took a lot of pictures, but missed a few things:

  • cake decorating contest

  • the script in the SoD with the striking fursuiters (of the Fursuit Actors Guild)

  • the Atomic Battle of Doom

I can't believe I missed the pics of the one script--I was too enthralled watching and I forgot to use the camera.  It was one of the most visual, too.  Go figure.  :)  The rest is all there, though.

The con had little growth this year, but I think it has less to do with reaching a plateau than the lack of advertising and grass-roots stuff (events, newsletters, relations with other cons) we had done in every previous year, but not this time around.  It's actually too bad that it's not from a plateau, because I'd love it if Morphicon stayed this size forever.  As it stands, the con is just the right size to be financially solvent and provide a huge bang for the donation dollar, and still be intimate and laid-back to attend.

Oh...  And any rumors of me flirting with other girls is a complete and utter fabrication.  *^o.o^*
